The Doug Kidd Award, recognizing long-term service to the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association and interscholastic soccer, is named for a high school coach who touched virtually every aspect of the association. A member of the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association, Kidd is a Past President of the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association, which he led from 1998 to 2018. There are very few individuals who have shaped and influenced North Carolina scholastic soccer in the last 25 years as much as Doug Kidd has. As a teacher, coach, administrator and officer, Kidd has championed both his sport and its grassroots development to the fullest and the results are continually evident. We are recognized regionally and nationally as a competitive state in high school soccer, and much of that has evolved with his guidance and diligence. For this, our sport is most fortunate. Each year, the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association will present this award to a person who has raised interscholastic soccer to new heights through his or her long-term dedication to the game.

To be eligible for consideration, the nominee must:
» Have been an North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association member for at least 20 years;
» Have coached or been an administrator at the high school level for a minimum of 20 years;
» Have a history of outstanding long-term service to North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association and achievement in high school soccer;
» Have made contributions that have had a positive impact on the improvement, advancement and/or presentation of high school soccer;
» Have conducted themselves in a way that exemplifies the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association Code of Ethics;
